MATTHEW 4:1-11

There is no temptation, no greed, hunger, unhealthy desire or hardship so great that He will not help you overcome.

You are never alone, one is “with you always, even to the end of the age” Matt 28:20

In daily realities we have faithfulness in His grace that is sufficient for us.

Does Religion Exist in My Life?

Let’s talk about GOD.

Being born into a strictly Catholic and large family, I had the understanding that religion and going to church was an obligation or task, rather than a relationship with a higher power. However, this was my view on Catholicism and church throughout my adolescence. We would make the hour drive to a specific church in Los Angeles every Sunday morning to meet with the rest of our extended family, and attend mass altogether. Routine-like ceremonies would occur, ranging from readings of the Bible to worship songs. All of it seemed strictly procedural. Reflecting back on all of this, my view on religion has shifted dramatically in the present.

Religion can be quite a sensitive and controversial topic to discuss, and it often scares me to bring it to light. I believe religion is your own personal set of beliefs on the creation and purpose of humans on earth, with consideration of a higher power that has a stronghold on the direction of your life. Religion exists as a sense of stability in life. We attend church to form a closer relationship to God, hoping he will bring us control to our lives when we feel powerless. Admittedly, I do have wavering faith, or trust, in God’s power, but I mainly attend church to self reflect and understand that some things are out of your control, and others you have the power to change. Rather than attending church to have a definite sanctuary to claim as your place of religion, I go to church alone, when I wish to learn more. Granted, I have began going to Christian mass over Catholic mass because I feel like their lessons have more relations to my own personal life, and I can further understand the words of God on a personal level. To me, a single figure, or a God, is the creator of the universe, who has the power to change the direction of your life, only if you are willing to work to improve your life as well.

Though I do attend Christian mass, it has been a struggle for me these past couple years over the idea of fate and faith. I admit my faith in God is not quite steady, to say the least. In Christian belief, fate is the idea that your life is set out for you. I am having difficulties understanding this certain aspect of Christianity because I believe everyone has the power to change the direction of your life, and no one has a set future. Reflecting on my own path, it has redirected several times that I am not even sure it is just a single path! Still a little confused, a little broken, and just looking for direction. In my perspective, no matter the religion, we all share the same power of changing our own lives and altering our own path according to our own time.

How Do You Define Love?

A Relationship With Love

With much grown acceptance, I have realized that my perspective is constantly shifting- regarding holistic growth, wellness, relationships, and love.

Delving into the glorified topic of relationships and love, it is fair to say that you learn as you go- picking up your likes and dislikes, and factoring in your morals and beliefs. Hearts break, your storage of love-filled and love-less memories build up, and finally you are left with truths of what you believe is to create a “better next time.” As of now, the most important factors of a long lasting relationship are the presence of love, the enduring efforts made, and trust. These are my findings. Consideration for each other’s well being is a huge part in it as well.

What is best for both individuals? Does your presence in each other’s lives take a toll on your individuality, or does it encourage you to progress forward and grow?

It is incredibly common for most to be in love with the idea of being in love- sharing happiness with another individual and creating a bond that no one else could imagine. We tend to put others first before ourselves, and forget that each of us are living our own gifted lives before tending to the happiness of another. Your personal development of happiness and wellness, above all, should be a top priority before creating a lasting love. This love is the result of two individuals who strive to become better as separate people, with acceptance of each other’s progress as a step towards building a strong relationship.

Love, in it’s many forms, is a twisted yet essential part of life that is defined on your own terms. How do you define love? How do you wish to receive love?

Evil and An Omnipotent God: How to Become Part of His Elected Few

To believe there is an existence of a great, all knowing, and powerful God provides us with the faith that evil is surmountable.

Yet if the reality of such an absolute being is present throughout our life, we must consider the presence of evils in our life, and why God has allowed them to remain.

Why do unexpected deaths occur? Why are injustices present within our government? Why does God allow such evils?

With these common tragedies and personal struggles, it is likely to assume that evil exists, despite the presence and power of an omnipotent God. Within each individual’s journey, hardships that often become origins of self uncertainty and suspicion of faith, coincide with the belief that an almighty and divine being carries the power of eliminating evils present in the world.

To a certain extent, some may believe that these horrors can be a sign of destroying or removing evils. This encourages the idea that God chooses to allow various evils for justified reasons. God’s divinity and goodness can create possibilities of defeating selected evils, on a global scale, but is unable to defeat the evils within one’s personal life. Why?

I believe that God allows certain evils to be present in each person’s life to build strength in faith and feel a deeper connection to Him. Though we cannot control the amount of evils that we run into in life, it is a glorified idea that there is an elected few in which God gives a good life, where sufferings are tolerable and endurable. This “chosen” life is not HIS choice, but ours. Those who CHOOSE to be faithful to His word. It is all about your mindset. This doesn’t apply to solely religion, but in every aspect of your life, you have the power to make your decisions. To fight off the evils present in your life, with either God’s guidance or your personal strength and spirituality.

It may seem unreasonable for God to present evils in a person’s life as they search for their meaning, but I believe His true purpose is to build their relationship with Him. Though it seems to be illogical for both a wholly God and evil to exist, a test of faith and arising intimacy with God is the ultimate purpose.

Are You Unhappy with Your Life?

Working Towards Your Future & How to Live in the Present

9d4f9121-a1d5-47ac-8c77-e1b3d5da2316
To think you’ll ever be done growing and evolving mentally is such a narrow outlook on your life- this my personal view.

I know that I’ll never stop learning how to handle situations and process emotions. Life is always changing, presenting you with new moments, feelings, and people. Having the mindset that life will eventually settle and reach a balance is setting a limit on your own capabilities and potential. You will always be striving for the moment you are content with your life, when you should instead appreciate what you have in the present. Work with what you have.

If unhappiness strikes you in a way that makes you feel like you “hate your life” right now, change your perspective. Notice it and grow from it, not forgetting that this is a part of life. This is life, some situations we cannot avoid and others we have the ability to part and grow from. Rather than relentlessly aiming for the future, live in the now. This is your life, filled with your opportunities, your time, your goals, your happiness, your own path.

I NEED A BREAK! 3 Tips to Recharging and Resting Your Mind

Processed with VSCO with ku8 preset

Hope you are all enjoying your 3 day weekend before it’s back to work! I’ve had quite the relaxing weekend spent at home, recharging for the upcoming week. This past week involved a huge focus on mental health and glorifying solitude. Often, when things go wrong I turn to work to keep myself occupied. I block out my feelings and keep moving forward. Don’t get me wrong, moving forward is essentially what is best, but not allowing myself to digest emotions and feelings in the present is not the way to go! Shaping your mind and allowing yourself the time to process feelings is a must, so here are my top 3 tips on how I rest my mind and recharge.

1. DISCONNECT YOURSELF FROM SOCIAL MEDIA

Honestly, I love Instagram. 100%. Hands down, it is my favorite and most frequently used. I’m obsessed. Often I find myself scrolling over the same posts and stories I’ve already seen! Terrible, I know. Soo…. to combat this insane obsession, I picked up a strategy from the amazing photographer and boss queen Jessica Whitaker (https://www.instagram.com/jessicawhitaker) and delete all my social media apps before I go to bed and reinstall them a few hours into the day. Granted, I don’t do this every single day, but I do try my best. Another way is to simply put your phone down when you’re out with loved ones! Be present!

2. UNWIND WITH MUSIC & CLEANING

Okay, this one sounds a bit strange, I know. Who wants to clean?! Me. LOL! I’m a huge supporter of a clean space and working environment. I believe that an organized work space is just a visual motivator for you to continuously maintain things as they are. Whether you work from home or in an office- a less cluttered work space really reflects through your work and attitude. The music part is a bonus… throw on your favorite jams and get to cleaning!

3. HAVE YOUR ALONE TIME

We live in a society where everyone is connected 24/7 through Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook- all of it! When I’m lonely I tend to completely immerse myself in all of these platforms… because the beauty of the internet is that you are truly never alone! Although I am grateful to be surrounded by friends and family through social media, it’s necessary to have time alone just to give your mind a rest. Use this time to get work done, watch your favorite show, online shop… whatever makes you happy!

And there we have it folks. I really hope these simple tips inspires you to take the time out of your day to really care for your mind and wellness.

OUR SPOT: Online Wellness Community and Networking Nook

MODEST NOOK: OUR SPOT

Hi everyone! I have been in and out of social media lately, truthfully confused with my personal life and what direction I’m headed in. I constantly picture my future… Living in a house, working a stable job, and just purely happy. Lately the motivation to get there has been fading. I have always been one to neglect certain aspects of my life while I’m focused on another- always trying to find a balance. I feel like once we realize life always has its ups and downs, we should aim to keep moving forward and work with what we have in the present moment.

Create, share, reflect, grow.

All of this being said, I am ecstatic to grow and share my new project with all of you, our special spot. OUR SPOT is an online wellness community and networking nook of creatives that aims to integrate the necessity of caring for mental health into our continuous progress towards our goals and future. Create, share, reflect, grow. Impatience, Lacking Motivation, Finding Inspiration Again

Hello everyone! I’m taking it back to the old days when I used to write journal type posts about absolutely anything and everything. Going into 2018, I imagined to take this blog further than I had planned, with great expectations that consumed me in the end. It has barely been a month into the new year, and I feel like I am failing myself already. I have admittedly lost motivation and have become so impatient with personal growth and self care.

The impatience with the growth of my blog and photography has also been bothering me, holding me back from even posting content. The last thing I would want to do is spam you with irrelevant posts just to keep up with a constant schedule. Truthfully, I just need to find inspiration again and really think about what direction I want to use this platform in… What niche, target audience, so on. All I know is, I love blogging and sharing everything from my favorites to confessions with you.

We are all growing and go through these schlumps every now and then. Please stick it out with me! If you have any tips on how to dig myself out of this schlump, send them my way.
As always, thanks for stopping by.
